Nihilistic Chants
Haunting chants arising from the dark
calling the names of the enlightened
raising questioning monuments, blocking the sun
to break the souls of the few
The Abyss is waiting and forever louring
for the hearts that search for its gaze
Drown in the blood that is pouring
through this universal maze
To inquire the question
and to challenge live itself
seek for the depths
to the bitter end of nothingness
Strike off the last shackles that bind
to the doctrine of surreal substance
enter the nocturnal abyss
to find adamant freedom in eternal emptiness
When the last breath is drawn
and striving loses its meaning
when the veins turn forever cold
liberty is found in nothingness

This whole album is flawless. This is music for walking in the rain and letting your thoughts run. It's not just a collection of songs, but an actual album. yakbone

I'd say Havukruunu is the rightful holder of the Crown and the mantle of Quorthon. Epic choirs, vikingesque themes and tales from the other times, of the Finnish paganism back in the days before our ancestors were brought to the cross and forced to kneel while feeling the bloody sword of saviour on their throats made to kiss the hand of murderers who burnt thousands, tore down our holy places and took our holy days. Eyes teary I listen to these songs, never forgiving the crimes of the cross! Peikonmieli

Swirling guitars, furious drums, vocals that at the same time howl from infinite distance and are right up in your head; everything put into dissonant form with the help of unconventional songwriting. This album is my personal key to the icelanding black metal madness that I've ignored for way too long! Lukas Kaufmann
Featuring members of Noothgrush, Graves at Sea, and more, the Oakland metal band juxtapose cavernous doom with spaced-out shoegaze. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2024

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
